All of our Working K9s, and their handlers are trained and held to the highest standards and are extremely dedicated. They spend countless hours each year training to prepare their dogs to be exceptional at what they do.
Our Working K9s come from a variety of backgrounds and training methodologies.
SRD K9s consist of Narcotics Detection K9s, Live Find K9s, Article Search K9s, Tracking K9s, and Human Remains Detection K9s (HRD).
SRD K9s Board of Directors
Dedication. Expertise. Passion.
This is your Team section. It's a great place to introduce your team and talk about what makes it special, such as your culture or work philosophy. Don't be afraid to illustrate personality and character to help users connect with your team.
PRESIDENT
Mike Ritcey
Mike has been involved in Search and Rescue for over 45 years. In addition to decades of volunteer service, he worked for 30 years as a paramedic with BC Ambulance Service.
Dogs have always been a part of Mike’s life, but it was 15 years ago that he discovered his true passion—working with search dogs to bring hope and provide answers to families who often feel forgotten.
Search Recovery and Detection K9s of BC has become a deeply meaningful part of Mike’s life, uniting a dedicated group of individuals whose shared goal is to search for those who have not yet made it home.
For Mike, this work is not only a privilege but also a duty. While he hopes their services are never needed, if the time comes, Mike and his K9 partners will be there to assist with compassion and commitment.

His K9 partner is Mara.
